Mounting artwork provides two significant benefits to your framed art: a visually pleasing presentation, and most importantly
protection. Framed artwork should not be placed directly against the glass, as it will result in buckling, wrinkles, formation of mould
and the art sticking to the glass. By mounting your artwork, you will provide support and airspace that can prevent these problems.



At Emerald frames, all mount board used is acid neutral (buffered to an alkaline pH), as acid eats away the cellulose in paper,
turning it yellow and causing damage to your artwork. A valued piece should be taken to the frame shop every three to five years
for inspection and cleaning, allowing problems to be detected and corrected at an early stage.
