Core: Dabberlocks 3 By Portia Knight - Framed Edition
Cameraless polymer photogravure
My prints are formed through direct contact between Dabberlocks and the photogravure plate, with ultraviolet light passing through the pressed fronds. The varying density of the seaweed determines the tonal range of the print, registering translucency, thickness, and edge as shifts in depth. The resulting images read as material impressions rather than representations—records of contact in which organic form is translated through light and pressure.
In Core, attention turns to rare instances where Dabberlocks spirals in on itself. Sought out among drift material, these atypical forms draw the eye toward a central point of visual interest. Through close cropping, the surrounding context falls away, focusing the image on the line that organises the form.
Medium: print - edition of 10
Framing: White Contemporary Frame with Artglass
Authenticity: signed and editioned
